Rental Inspections

For owners or managers of residential rental properties in the City and County of Denver needing a license to comply with the city ordinance. This only applies to long-term rental properties rented for more than 90 days.

Application deadline

  • For multiple units on the same property - apartments, condos and duplexes, the deadline has passed. You should get started ASAP to avoid any fines

  • For single-unit rentals the deadline in January 1. 2024

License Application Process

  1. Start application for a license

  2. Schedule an inspection

  3. Upload inspection checklist and inspector certifications

  4. Complete application

  5. Repair any non-compliant issues, if necessary

  6. Schedule a reinspection, if necessary. No charge first reinspection.

    • Applications must be submitted within 90 days of the initial inspection.

    • Licenses are good for four years unless ownership changes.
